Is Diagnostic Services right for my medical office?

Whether you’re a neurologist delegating EMG’s to clean your schedule, or a general practitioner bringing EMG’s in-house, Diagnostic Solutions is here to help. Our services connect providers with patients to ensure quality treatment. We understand the importance of timely and accurate diagnostics in healthcare, and we are dedicated to improving patient wellness.

Electromyogram: EMG

EMG stands for Electromyography. It is a diagnostic test that measures the electrical activity produced by muscles. During an EMG, small electrodes are inserted into the muscles being examined, and the electrical signals generated by muscle cells are recorded. This test helps assess the health of muscles and the nerves controlling them. EMG is often performed in conjunction with nerve conduction studies to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the muscular and nervous systems. It is commonly used to diagnose conditions such as muscle disorders, nerve disorders, and neuromuscular junction disorders.

Nerve Testing: NCV

The nerve conduction study is a diagnostic test designed to assess the functionality of muscles and nerves. NCV (Nerve Conduction Velocity) testing is commonly employed in conjunction with an EMG to pinpoint the location and assess the severity of an injury. During the study, a stimulator is utilized to send an electrical impulse, stimulating the nerve, and the resulting response is recorded and analyzed by the diagnostician.

Somatosensory Evoked Potential Study: SSEP

SSEP checks the ability of the spinal nerves and spinal cord to send sensory signals from the body to the brain. This test is often used for generalized disorders of the nervous system like multiple sclerosis.

Read about Carpal Tunnel

Median Nerve

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition that occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed in the wrist within a space called the carpal tunnel.
  • Symptoms often are described as numbness and tingling in the thumb, index finger, and middle finger, weakness in the hand dropping things more than usual, and pain or discomfort radiating up the arm. Sometimes the symptoms may worsen at night. Carpal tunnel often happens due to overuse.
  • An early diagnosis and treatment can prevent the condition from progressing. Treatment can include physical therapy to reduce inflammation in the wrist, and in some cases, surgical intervention may be required to relieve pressure on the nerve.

Ulnar Nerve

  • Cubital tunnel syndrome is a condition that occurs when the ulnar nerve, which runs along the inner side of the elbow through a passage called the cubital tunnel, becomes compressed or irritated. Cubital tunnel syndrome often happens due to repetitive motions at the elbow, and pressure on the ulnar nerve.
  • Symptoms often include numbness and tingling in the little finger and ring finger.
  • An early diagnosis and treatment can prevent the condition from worsening. Treatment can include physical therapy to reduce inflammation in the elbow and in some cases surgical intervention.

Read about Cervical Radiculopathy

  • Cervical radiculopathy is a medical condition characterized by the compression or irritation of the nerve roots in the neck region of the spine.
  • Symptoms often include sharp shooting pain, numbness and tingling, and weakness in the arm or hand.
  • Treatment options may include physical therapy, medication, steroid injections, and surgical interventions.

Read about Lumbar Radiculopathy

  • Lumbar radiculopathy is a medical condition characterized by the compression or irritation of the nerve roots in the lower spine.
  • Symptoms often include pain, numbness, and tingling, and weakness is the leg and or foot.
  • Treatment may include physical therapy, medications, steroid injections, and in some cases surgical interventions.

Polyneuropathy

  • Polyneuropathy refers to a condition where the peripheral nerves throughout the body are damaged or malfunctioning.
  • Symptoms may include numbness and tingling, weakness in the affected extremities, stabbing, burning or sharp pains, loss of coordination, or fine motor tasks.
  • Treatment may include physical therapy, management of the underlying cause, pain medication, and lifestyle modifications.

Read about Peroneal Nerve Entrapment

  • Fibular nerve impingement most often occurs when the peroneal nerve is compressed at the fibular head.
  • Symptoms may include decreased sensation, numbness, or tingling at the top of the foot or the outer part of the upper or lower leg.
  • can include physical therapy and in some cases surgical interventions.

Read about Tarsal Tunnel

Tibial Nerve

  • Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a conduction that occurs when the posterior tibial nerve which runs along the inside of the ankle and foot, becomes compressed or irritated as it passes through a narrow tunnel called the tarsal tunnel.
  • Symptoms may include burning pain in the ankle and sole of the foot, numbness in the toes, and weakness of the foot.
  • Treatment may include physical therapy, orthotic devices, and medications.
