Weight Training

Weight training, also known as resistance training, plays a crucial role in physical therapy as a means to enhance strength, improve function, and aid in the rehabilitation process. This form of exercise involves using various resistance methods, such as free weights, machines, or resistance bands, to challenge and strengthen muscles. One of the advantages of weight training in physical therapy is its adaptability to various levels of fitness and abilities. Therapists can tailor the resistance and intensity of exercises to accommodate the individual’s current capabilities, gradually progressing as strength improves. This progressive approach helps prevent overexertion and minimizes the risk of further injury.

Blood Flow Restriction Training

Blood flow restriction training (BFRT) is a technique that involves using a tourniquet or cuff to partially restrict blood flow to the muscles during exercise. This type of training is typically used in resistance training with lower loads and has gained popularity for its potential benefits

IASTM

IASTM stands for Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and it is a technique used in physical therapy to address various musculoskeletal conditions. IASTM involves the use of specialized tools, often made of metal or plastic, to massage and mobilize soft tissues in the body. The primary goal of IASTM is to improve tissue mobility, reduce pain, and enhance overall function

Lymphedema/ Wound Care:

Lymphedema is a chronic medical condition characterized by the accumulation of excess lymphatic fluid in the tissues, leading to swelling, typically in the arms or legs. This condition occurs when the lymphatic system, which is responsible for draining fluid from tissues and filtering it through lymph nodes, is impaired or damaged. The impaired lymphatic drainage causes fluid buildup, resulting in swelling and other symptoms

Soft Tissue Manipulation

Soft tissue manipulation is a therapeutic technique used in various healthcare disciplines, including physical therapy, massage therapy, chiropractic care, and osteopathy. This approach involves the manual manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia, to address musculoskeletal issues, improve range of motion, reduce pain, and promote overall well-being

Isokinetic Training

Isokinetic training is a type of resistance training that focuses on maintaining a consistent speed or velocity of movement during muscle contractions. In this form of exercise, the resistance varies based on the individual’s effort to move at a preset speed. Isokinetic training is often utilized in rehabilitation and sports performance settings.

Diagnostic Imaging (MSKUS)

Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) imaging uses sound waves to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and joints throughout the body. Recent research studies show that 60% of patients who receive MSK ultrasound imaging as part of their physical therapy care had a more positive outcome in their case management. MSK ultrasound imaging can help your physical therapist design appropriate treatment plans and manage your case more effectively
